Azimuth Technologies Pte Ltd has spent more than 20 years building a reputation for innovation in the Oil and Gas industry, and expanding into automation in the construction sector. Founded in 2005 by Francis Tan, Lai Tin Song, and Joseph Sun, the company grew by focusing on solving real-world problems and earning industry trust.

As part of its automation push, Azimuth developed a robotic system equipped with a LIDAR-integrated arm, AI analytics and noise barrier magazines. With a single command, the system carries out precise and efficient installation of noise barrier panels. This solution represents a major step forward in productivity and safety on construction sites.

One of Azimuth’s key collaborators through BEAMP was Chuan Lim Engineering Pte Ltd, a prominent civil engineering contractor in Singapore known for its work on MRT lines, airport runways and large-scale reclamation projects.

Azimuth’s automated solution was successfully demonstrated on-site. The robotic arm was able to collect and install panels up to 4.5 metres tall in just 10 minutes, reducing manpower needs to a single operator. This not only improved productivity but also minimised fatigue and safety risks.

The solution is now being prepared for deployment on the Land Transport Authority’s (LTA) Jurong Regional Line (JRL) project and is expected to be adapted for broader use across other construction scenarios.

Featured as a case study in the ConTech series of BuildSG Magazine, this development is only the beginning for Chuan Lim Construction (CLC) and Azimuth. “The next step is to look at what else can be automated, which will probably be the installation of the guide poles,” said CLC Director Bijay Joseph.

Participation in BEAMP gave Azimuth access to meaningful feedback, support and exposure. The experience helped the company evolve into Azimuth AI Construction Pte Ltd, and positioned it to take on larger opportunities in the ConTech space.

More than just business growth, the process inspired the team to continue developing practical solutions that address persistent pain points in construction. Working alongside Challenge Statement Owners to refine the robotic system provided clear validation of its real-world value.

Future Milestones

  • Expand commercial deployment of the automated system in live field environments.
  • Take part in future BEAMP cycles to tackle new challenges and create additional solutions for the built environment.
